About Us - Our Team

Owner Operators

Our Owner-operators, and their drivers, are the backbone of our organization; they provide superior customer service and are highly talented. Their experience averages 29 years. The majority of our drivers have had over one million accident free miles, and many of them have recieved recognition for driving two to five million miles accident free. 2012 marked a milestone for one of our Owner-Operators reaching six million miles accident free.

Our decision to contract with owner operators, and not purchase a fleet and hire drivers, was a very conscious one. We chose to partner with owner-operators and work on a percentage basis, in order to ensure that everyone that works within Professional Carriers has a vested interest in exceeding our customers’ expectations and providing the best customer service possible.

President and Management

Richard Boone
President, Owner

Richard has spent his entire life in the transportation industry, following in the footsteps of his father. Growing up around trucks, it did not take long for Richard to jump in one and hit the road. While studying at UNB, Richard continued to drive for his father on the weekends, with his wife Susan at his side. After completing his degree, Richard started as a Training Officer for a major Canada LTL Carrier. He quickly ascended through the ranks and began managing terminals in 1984. Eventually Richard was appointed as President of their truckload division, where he was one of the first in the industry to make the decision to offer longhaul reefer service coast to coast, to save his customers costly load transfers in Central Canada. Throughout his career, Richard realized how important it was to be active in his industry and help it grow. He is a long term director of the board of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association and in 1996 served a term as chairman of this board. Also, he has served a term as director on the Canadian Trucking Alliance board. In 1998, Richard was recognized for his industry contributions when he was named “Transportation Person of the Year” by the APTA. After managing two other companies, Richard was approached by a group of owner-operators with the idea of starting his own company, which would represent the importance they placed on professionalism, and service. It was with this idea, that Professional Carriers was founded and continues to operate today.

In his free time Richard enjoys working on and traveling with Susan in their motorhome, reading, and riding his motorcycle.
